The Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper) is an opera house - and opera company - with a history dating back to the mid 19th century. It is located in the centre of Vienna, Austria. The members of the Vienna Philharmonic are recruited from its orchestra.
Prominent Artists: Placido Domingo, Anna Netrebko, Rolando Villazon, Elina Garanca, Juan Diego Flórez, Agnes Baltsa and others.
For many decades, the opera house has been the venue of the Vienna Opera Ball, which takes place in february.
